A Little History
Behind Our
Company
The Kennedy Company of VA was founded by Barbara Lynn Kennedy in 1987. The company started as a jack-of-all trades business with its first job cleaning a lake. Alongside Barbara is her husband, Kurt Kennedy, a civil engineer. Later the business began performing department of transportation work and the company has evolved their trades to match the growing transportation demands in Hampton Roads. Barbara and her team have completed hundreds of projects for federal, state and local clients. The last 20+ years have been focused on primarily the maintenance and construction of tunnels and bridge facilities in Hampton Roads.
